Face Mask Follow-up
Listening in on the May 12 Special Council Meeting was a difficult endeavor. Despite the continued conflicting research on face mask effectiveness and over 60 days into COVID-19 nine city council members voted Yes to impose even more restrictions over the people through a resolution that “strongly supports” the use of face masks.
Our city council voted against opening the economy and removing the severe barriers that have been imposed on Broomfield families and businesses. Council member Stan Jezierski voted No. His statement supported personal rights and he stated that he values the feedback from voters that he’s received thus far. He trusts that the public is more than aware of how to stay safe and avoid harming others during the COVID-19 situation. While he supports those who wish to wear masks he does not believe these more restrictive mask edicts were necessary. He believes that the people of Broomfield are very aware of the need for safety. We are very thankful for his public insights. (See his video comments here, starting at 1:43:00).
Our governor reported to the president last week that Colorado was indeed open however with the continued face mask and distancing edicts many businesses remain closed or their business model is not able to freely function with these restrictions in place.
You have more power than you know. City Council and the Broomfield Board of Health is listening. Please participate in the next city council meeting May 26th at 6pm, or the next Covid-19 Townhall, Thursday May 28th at 6pm.
