2025 Colorado State Legislature Bills to Watch
Concerning repealing the requirement that retail establishments charge a fee for providing recycled paper carryout bags.
Under current law, retail establishments are prohibited from providing plastic carryout bags at the point of sale, but may provide recycled paper carryout bags for a fee of at least 10 cents per bag. The bill repeals the requirement that retail establishments charge a fee for providing recycled paper carryout bags.
This bill would simply REMOVE the .10 cent bag fee that retail establishments were required to add on January 1, 2023 (HB21-1162). This is a COMMON-SENSE bill that would continue to address those fees that keep adding up for Coloradans! Fmr. US Senator Everett Dirksen once said, “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money."
Concerning changing confinement standards for egg-laying hens whose eggs are sold. The bill repeals standards created in House Bill 20-1343, enacted in 2020, regarding confinement standards for egg-laying hens whose eggs are sold.
